I was 2 years old when I got my first dog, a miniature Poodle. As I grew up my passion for animals, dogs in general become quite evident. I started grooming dogs when I was in middle school for a gentleman who also showed and groomed dogs. I spent many years learning the skills needed to become a successful dog groomer.
At the age of 16, I opened my first of many grooming salons in Philadelphia. Moving forward several years I owned the most successful grooming salon and specialty store for dogs in NE Philly. I was written up in Philadelphia magazine for the uniqueness of Dapper Dog.
So when did I start showing dogs? In the middle of opening the grooming salon my neighbor bought a Great Dane "Brutus". He wanted to take him to obedience class and the dog lover that I was, I tagged along.
Brutus loved me and to make a long story short I ended up showing him in obedience obtaining his companion dog degree. The bug bit me. I enjoyed showing and wanted to learn all I could. I took local handling classes with my first Borzoi and never looked back.
I've shown and bred many dogs over the years in addition to showing other people's dogs and have enjoyed every moment of it. Hounds and Terriers are what I showed most.
I am recently retired from the boarding kennel business which I ran since 1987. I am looking forward to this next chapter of my life.
I am still occasionally showing and handling dogs. I adore teaching group and private
show handling classes and I remain active judging, and educating people whenever asked. When I have some spare time you will find me out with my partner Ron or friends, riding my Harley Davidson Trike or just relaxing here on the farm with Miss Paisley.
