A few years ago I decided I would like to get into dog showing with my young deerhound, Lark. Where to start? Somehow I found Missy Brong. She said she would be happy to work with me. Since these were the covid times we met at the tennis courts at the local park. What I loved and still love about Missy is her persistence in demanding the best from both and your dog. Lark went on to receive her champion title and I am proud to say that that now my second deerhound, Chase Farm Dances With Wolves aka Fenris has done the same. (Pending AKC approval). Thank you Missy we couldn't have done it without you.

🔥Zuko🔥 finished the 2025 Owner Handled Year ⭐️#1 Toller ⭐️ #4 Sporting Dog ⭐️#18 Dog OH⭐️ and… is the #1 Lifetime Owner Handled Toller!
Words cannot describe how proud I am to be at the end of this boy’s leash. I keep thinking back to my first goal of OH of 100 points for the 2022. We now have 5115 lifetime points and started the 2026 season strong with Best in Sporting Show, BISOH , and RBISOH (265 points) in the first 3 shows! Zuko is not just my first dog, but also my first show dog. He was and still is exclusively shown by me (and Drew in jrs). We figured things out together and navigated the lows and highs by constantly learning and reaching for the next goal. From the bottom of my heart I thank all of the coaches, mentors and friends that have came into my life throughout the way. Your guidance, encouragement, and friendship basement the world to me. I hope to be the inspiration to future Owner Handlers and you all have been to me.
Special thank you to Missy Brong and Kristeen Davidson-Christman for the endless hours of coaching and mentoring. Vesta Rashand Ree Smyth for helping me learn how to groom & keep Zuko’s coat in top shape. Margaret Aldridge and Paula Geigle thank you for Zuko’s dam Topaz and sire Rustin and the opportunity to own this wonderful pup! Finally, thank you Kevin Scott and my family to encourage our journey and hold down the fort while I’m gone! Our journey is not complete. There are still a few more goals to reach but wow what a ride so far!!!

While visiting from Michigan, we were able to attend one of Missy’s classes with our breeder and friend, Timothy Rahn! While our younger red head was full of herself that night (which Missy helped us work through with patience and guidance), our other bloodhound Georgia enjoyed the extra practice! Roughly a week later, we attended the Bloodhound National Specialty, where Georgia obtained the last points needed for her championship(at the regional the day after the national)! Wish we lived local, as we would love to attend class regularly! For now, I’ll be sure attending class is on our list when we are back to visit our bloodhound family in PA!

One of the best things about this class is running into everyone at the shows and supporting each other. Missy, this is for you a pic of some of us after Handling Strong at Bloomsburg. We love you and thank you for being the best teacher out there! — with Meghann Parker and 4 others.
